2006 Conference Speakers' Bios
Marlin Detweiler
Mariln graduated from North Carolina State with a B.S. in Business. President of Veritas Press, a classical Christian curriculum provider, Marlin is a permanent member of the Association of Classical and Christian Schools National Board of Governors. Marlin and Laurie are the founders of two ACCS schools: The Geneva School in Orlando, FL, and Veritas Academy in Lancaster, PA.
Laurie Detweiler
Laurie has served as the Curriculum Coordinator for Veritas Academy since 1996 and is half of the founding team of Veritas Press. Laurie earned her B. A. from the University of Miami. She and Marlin are the parents of four sons.
Dr. Jay Wile
Jay, the President and founder of Apologia Educational Ministries, is the author of ten textbooks. He received his PhD in nuclear chemistry from the University of Rochester. Wile has won awards for excellence in teaching and has presented numerous lectures on Christian Apologetics and Creation vs. Evolution.
Charles Fox
Charel is the youth pastor at Covenant Community Presbyterian Church in Wexford and Chaplain at Blackburn Study Center. Charles, a graduate of Penn State and Westminster Seminary, is the father of three children.
Cindy Marsch
Cindy has operated Writing Assessment Services online since 1996 and with Glenn homeschools their four children. The Marsches and Munsons were founding board members of Augustine School, a classical Christian school in Jackson, TN. Cindy holds an M.A. in English from Florida State University.
Dr. Glenn Marsch
Glenn is an Associate professor of physics at Grove City College and earned a Ph.D. in molecular biophysics from Florida State University. Glenn actively pursues toxicology research through Vanderbilt University and has written about and developed coursework on the relationship of science and faith.
Dr. Paul Munson
Paul is an Associate professor of music at Grove City College and a Wheaton College graduate, with a Ph.D. from University of Michigan. Paul and his wife Elisabeth homeschool three children and worked with the Marsches to start a classical Christian school in Jackson, TN.
Jay Neikirk
Jay is a professor of Political Science at Geneva College. With his wife, Anne, he home schooled his three children for twelve years. The eldest two are graduates of Wheaton College and the Citadel while their third is a senior at Geneva College.
Speaker Biographies
Ty Fischer has been the Headmaster at Veritas Academy since 1997. He received a B.A. in History from Grove City College and his M.Div. from Reformed Theological Seminary. He serves on the board of the Association of Classical and Christian Schools. Ty and his wife, Emily, are the parents of four children.
Charles Jackson, pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Dayton, Ohio, is a Ph.D. student at the University of Leicester, England and is author of Faith of Our Fathers: A Study of the Nicene Creed, and Resurrection and the Faithful Husband: A Literary Study of Ruth. He has been teaching since 1989 and has worked with home school study centers for years, presently teaching Biblical Worldview at Dominion Academy in Dayton.
Dory Zinkand is Principal of Tall Oaks Classical School in Newark, Delaware. She has nearly twenty years of experience teaching in classroom and home school settings. Dory earned a B.S. in Education and Psychology from Liberty University and completed additional studies in Early Childhood and Special Education from Hood College. She is pursuing a M.Ed. in a Great Books program at Harrison Middleton University.
Paul Munson is an Associate Professor of music at Grove City College and a Wheaton College graduate, with a Ph.D. from University of Michigan. Dr. Munson and his wife home school their three children and with another couple started a classical Christian school in Jackson, TN.
Sharon Sampson is the Blackburn Study Center Latin tutor. She home schooled her daughter, who is now in college. She has tutored from the Latina Christiana, Oxford and Wheelock's texts. Mrs. Sampson enjoys sharing her love for Latin and her creative learning ideas with others.
Martin Blocki is associate pastor of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North Hills. He received a B.A. in Music Education from Indiana University and M.Div. from Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary. He taught music at the high school and college levels and with his wife home schooled their two sons. He teaches Theology at Blackburn Study Center.
Laura Miller is a Blackburn Study Center writing and grammar tutor, as a home schooling mother of four. Her professional work includes writing and editing for a Christian publishing house, Ligonier’s Tabletalk magazine, and a small New England newspaper.
Graham Dennis teaches Omnibus and Rhetoric at Veritas Academy. He graduated from Columbia International University, received his Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy from University of South Carolina and his Masters in Philosophy from Boston College. He is the proud parent of three children.
